Jacqueline M. & Robert N. Wilentz Cancer Center

Monday, July 27th, 2009

Our oncology program, approved by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons provides Central Jersey residents with convenient, quality cancer services right in their own neighborhood, eliminating the need to travel to distant locations. Our comprehensive program is designed to meet the complex medical needs of patients diagnosed with malignant diseases. Services address the entire spectrum of cancer, from prevention, treatment and rehabilitation to annual patient follow-up, all of which are provided under the highest standards established through our role as a Clinical Research Affiliate of the Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) . The center has adopted a proactive approach to patient care management and is involved with many aspects of care including community outreach and health education programs, reflecting our emphasis on preventive services and early diagnosis of cancer.

For more information call 732.324.5079.

American College of Surgeons Accredited

Established in 1932, the American College of Surgeons approval program sets standards for cancer programs. Receiving care at a Commission on Cancer approved program ensures that a patient will have access to:

  • A range of state-of-the-art services and equipment
  • A multi-specialty care team who will coordinate the best treatment options available
  • Lifelong patient follow-up through a cancer registry that collects data on type and stage of cancers and treatment results
  • Ongoing monitoring against the highest standards in the nation

Approval by the Commission on Cancer is given only to those facilities that have voluntarily committed to provide the best in diagnosis and treatment and undergo a rigorous evaluation and performance review process. In order to maintain approval, facilities with approved cancer programs must undergo an on-site review every three years.

Slightly more than one-fifth of the country’s hospitals have an American College of Surgeons approved cancer program, and more than 80 percent of newly diagnosed patients are treated in those facilities.

Cancer Institute of New Jersey Affiliate

The Jacqueline M. & Robert N. Wilentz Cancer Center at Raritan Bay Medical Center is a Clinical Research affiliate of the Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) . CINJ has been extremely supportive of our efforts to develop a comprehensive oncology program within the familiar environment of a neighborhood community hospital. CINJ continues to provide Raritan Bay with professional, clinical, educational and advanced research assistance and support.

Established in 1990, The Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) is the only center in the State designated by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), and one of only 41 NCI designated clinical cancer centers in the nation.

CINJ delivers advanced comprehensive care, conducts world class cancer research, transforms laboratory discoveries into clinical practice and provides education regarding cancer prevention, detection and treatment. CINJ also offers the latest clinical trials and experimental therapies that are sometimes the only hope for patients with certain types or stages of cancer.

BayPracLogoFINAL

At Bay Family Medicine, we know that every stage of life has its own special healthcare needs. So no matter what stage your family is going through, you can count on us to be there. Not just today. Or tomorrow. But for decades. Perhaps even generations.

Bay Family Medicine, which is owned by Raritan Bay Medical Center, is a wellness practice for the whole family, and a comprehensive resource for all your primary care needs. We also take a special interest in treating patients holistically, rather than treating a particular disease or injury.

Family medicine physicians are unique because we take care of the whole family and often follow them throughout their entire lives. Children do not have to change doctors when they reach adulthood and women do not need to see multiple physicians for their health needs.

What makes Bay Family Medicine a great resource for your whole family is our ability to provide a high level of personalized care with a lifetime commitment. Contrary to other specialties, Bay Family Medicine physicians are trained and experienced in a broad range of disciplines, enabling them to diagnose and treat most illnesses and medical conditions, including chronic diseases such as asthma, diabetes and hypertension.

Because families experience a wide range of medical issues, we offer a wide range of quality services. Everything from pediatric sick and wellness visits to adult physicals and gynecological exams. We also provide immunizations and a wide range of health screenings, from electrocardiograms to pap smears. In addition, our laboratory can expediently process throat cultures, standard blood work and other important tests and we provide a procedures room for minor surgeries and other treatments.

Upon admission to the Maternity Pavilion, laboring mothers are encouraged to discover the benefits of guided imagery. An audio system and meditation CDs, that may help alleviate stress and discomfort while inspiring confidence and relaxation, is available upon request in all birthing suites.
