from the TD Charitable Foundation
-Funds Earmarked for Raritan Bay Medical Center’s Breast Cancer Support Programs-
PERTH AMBOY, NJ, January 31, 2011… Raritan Bay Medical Center Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Raritan Bay Medical Center (RBMC), recently received a $15,000 grant from TD Bank (through the TD Charitable Foundation) for the medical center’s breast cancer support programs, as part of the bank’s commitment to giving back to the community.
“The TD Charitable Foundation is a tremendous advocate for Raritan Bay’s breast cancer support program affording a unique forum for peer-to-peer support while celebrating the diversity of women, the challenges of survivorship and the importance of continued healthcare examinations even after long-term recovery and remission,” said Executive Vice President, Raritan Bay Medical Center Foundation, Nancy Barone. “Together, our medical center and the TD Charitable Foundation are improving the quality of life in our shared communities.”
RBMC’s weekly and monthly support programs provide services, at no cost, for adult women survivors, those who have been newly diagnosed, who are currently in treatment or those who have completed treatment. These programs address mental and physical well-being, provide education, fortify pain management services via physical therapy and promote lifestyle changes to support cancer survival.
The grant will be used to facilitate the breast cancer programs; staff compensation, purchase supplemental education material, provide for guest speakers and special programs, and add audio/visual equipment.
“At TD Bank building strong communities where our employees, customers and other stakeholders live and work is a priority for us,” said Nick Miceli, market president, TD Bank, “which is why we’re happy to support the breast cancer support program.”
Breast Cancer Support Group meetings are held at RBMC’s Medical Pavilion at Woodbridge, 740 Route 1 North, Iselin, NJ. For a meeting schedule or to register call (732) 362-3860.
