Infection Prevention

Frequent hand washing is the cornerstone of infection prevention. Raritan Bay Medical Center encourages staff as well as patients and visitors to wash their hands. We encourage patients to ask caregivers if they have washed their hands prior to attending to their needs. A vigorous hand wash with soap and water is the most effective way to decontaminate your hands. Alcohol based waterless hand gel is considered an acceptable alternative.

Waterless hand gel dispensers are located in every patient room and also in the corridors for easy accessibility. It is everyone’s responsibility to prevent the spread of infection.
