Raritan Bay Medical Center’s Nursing Services

A Magnet Hospital for Nursing Excellence

What Makes Our Nurses So Special?
Our award winning team sustains a true culture of excellence while embracing a patient/family-centered philosophy that values the unique needs, dignity and self-worth of each individual. As a cornerstone of nursing, they view patients as partners, involving them in every step of the healing process. And they do it with unparalleled dedication, professionalism and compassion.

Of America’s 7,500 hospitals and 2.9 million registered nurses, Raritan Bay Medical Center and its nursing staff are ranked at the top of the list. One more example of how the nation’s best health care is available right here in your community.

The Nation’s Best
Magnet designation is not a destination, but rather a journey. While this coveted award is bestowed upon a tiny fraction of the nation’s hospitals, even fewer receive it twice. Raritan Bay Medical Center (RBMC) is among a mere two percent of US hospitals to achieve re-designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the nation’s largest and most prestigious accrediting and credentialing organization. With this designation, the Department of Nursing at Raritan Bay Medical Center is nationally recognized for its extraordinary commitment to nursing practice and patient care. Magnet status is the ultimate benchmark for medical providers, representing the highest standards of clinical skill, leadership, research, innovation and other exemplary characteristics that optimize quality, safety and outcomes.

The Magnet Difference
Why choose a Magnet hospital? While this award means a great deal to Raritan Bay Medical Center, it means even more to our patients. It establishes RBMC as a true health care leader with extraordinary results to show for it, such as:

  • A proven track record of exceeding standard care and achieving better patient outcomes
  • Outstanding nurse recruitment and retention rates
  • Physician and patient satisfaction
  • A large percentage of nurses with advanced education, training and degrees
  • On-site nursing research, resulting in implementation of breakthrough treatments and best practices in care delivery.

Superior Quality, Safety and Care
Raritan Bay Medical Center is committed to providing superior quality health care, with patient safety as our highest priority. Our nursing team aggressively researches and evaluates the nation’s best clinical practices, guidelines and recommendations in constant pursuit of patient care excellence. The goal is to ensure that patients safely attain their treatment goals and achieve the best possible outcomes. As part of this effort, our nurses are skilled in the latest medical and information technologies, pioneering advancements and supporting efforts to computerize our national health care delivery system. The staff recently implemented a new barcode medication administration system that uses an automated verification process, wireless technology and other devices to make certain all patients receive safe, accurate and timely doses of medication. Additionally, nurses promote a patient/family centered model of care that thrives on inter-disciplinary collaboration as well as the partnership of patients and their families. Nurses, doctors, therapists and other clinicians work together to educate patients on their illnesses’ disease processes and develop individualized plans of care to speed recovery.
