Childbirth Preparation Class
A baby’s birth is a special day for any parent. Raritan Bay Medical Center can help you prepare for this special event by providing the information you need for a safe and comfortable delivery. Through this one day comprehensive program you and your coach will learn the signs of labor, breathing techniques, relaxation, comfort measures and other useful information to promote a positive birth experience. Classes are held monthly, on Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and cost $125.00 per couple. Breakfast and lunch are included. Registration required.
Maternity Tour
The maternity tour is designed for expectant families to familiarize themselves with Raritan Bay Medical Center’s Labor and Delivery unit. Tours are free and held the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. Registration required.
Doctor Dad
A workshop that focuses on a father’s parenting skills in caring for the health and safety of his infant or toddler. This program gives dads basic medical knowledge to handle various situations that may arise as their children grow. Registration required.
Car Seat Safety Checks
Placing your child in an age appropriate car seat while driving is the law and one of the most important steps in keeping them safe. Approximately 90 percent of car seats are misused or not installed properly. Free car seat safety checks by a certified child passenger safety technician are available. |
Sibling Classes
The arrival of a new baby is not just a special event for parents. This fun and educational program will help prepare children, ages 3 to 8, for the big day. Using dolls children will have the opportunity to practice holding and diapering and make a welcome card for the baby. They will also be given a brief tour of the labor and delivery unit. Cost is $25 for the first child, $10 for each additional child. Registration required.
Breast Feeding 101
Breastfeeding is a personal choice. Come join us for this open forum where YOU get to ask the questions. Topics such as positioning, diet, and going back to work are covered. Information about breastfeeding is also provided. The class is free and held monthly at Babies R Us, North Brunswick.
Safe-Sitter Training
These classes prepare young adolescents, ages 11 to 13, to be safe, nurturing babysitters and include the rescue skills needed to respond appropriately to medical emergencies. Safe Sitter classes also offer important life skills including introductory employment skills. Cost is $45 per student. Registration required, call (732) 324-5393.
Infant CPR
This course teaches rescuers to effectively recognize and treat pediatric emergencies and includes pediatric CPR training. Cost is $75 per person. Registration required, call (732) 324-5393. |
