Ayotunde Adeyeri, M.D. FASMBS

Raritan Bay’s Institute for Weight Loss, specializing in weight loss surgery, is headed by Ayotunde Adeyeri, M.D., a board-certified and fellowship trained laparoscopic surgeon who specializes in minimally invasive bariatric weight loss and advanced gastrointestinal surgery. Dr. Adeyeri completed his surgical residency at Columbia University (Harlem Hospital Center) and went on to complete a fellowship in advanced laparoscopy, bariatric and gastrointestinal surgery at the University of Rochester, NY. He leads a team of experienced, board-certified bariatric surgeons, clinicians, and dietitians who are dedicated to helping patients achieve their optimal health and overcome obesity-related medical conditions through medically-supervised weight loss.


The Team

Dr. Vishal Mehta

Weight Loss Surgery physician, Dr. Vishal Mehta is a bariatric surgeon, board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He received his medical degree in 1996 from New York Medical College and completed a residency in general surgery at New York Methodist hospital in 2001. Dr. Mehta was amongst the first fellowship trained bariatric surgeons in the United States in 2002. He has performed more than 4,000 procedures and 1,300 weight loss surgeries.  His technical skills and dedication as a laparoscopic bariatric surgeon has gained him a reputation amongst his peers.


Oluseun A. Sowemimo M.D. F.A.C.S.

Oluseun A. Sowemimo M.D. F.A.C.S., (Dr. Seun) is a board-certified, fellowship-trained general, laparoscopic and bariatric surgeon specializing in minimally invasive weight loss surgery. Most recently, Dr. Seun successfully completed specialized fellowship training in advanced minimally invasive (laparoscopic), robotic and open bariatric surgery at the Yale University Hospital of St. Raphael, New Haven, CT. Dr. Seun completed his general surgery internship and residency training at College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, Harlem Hospital Center, NY.


Bennet K. Togbe, M.D.

Dr. Togbe obtained his surgical training at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University at Harlem Hospital Center, New York City, where he served as chief resident (2011-2012). Thereafter, he completed specialized fellowship training (2012 -2013) in minimally invasive & bariatric surgery at the University Teaching Hospital of New York Medical College, Valhalla, NY (a Bariatric Center of Excellence), and the Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle, NY. He is a member of the American Medical Association (AMA), American College of Surgeons (ACS), and the Society of American and Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES)

He is fluent in EWE and Twi.


Our Staff

Nurse Navigator Maureen Ali, RN, BSN, CBN

Maureen is a Registered Nurse with over 38 years of nursing experience in various specialties including emergency medicine, community health and hospice care. She is a Certified Bariatric Nurse and provides pre-op and post-op education to our clients and their family members as well as providing support and serving as a resource throughout the surgical weight loss process. She is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the Obesity Action Coalition.


Domenique Jaime-Cambero

Domenique serves as the certified Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Clinical Reviewer for over 2 years. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She is also certified as a medical assistant, phlebotomist and EKG tech. She is responsible for data collection and review of all post-operative outcomes.

Jennifer Seleem MS, RDN

Jennifer Seleem is a registered dietitian nutritionist with experience in community nutrition education and clinical nutrition. She works closely with surgical weight loss patients to smoothly transition through all diet phases and meet their individual weight loss goals. Jennifer also provides outpatient nutrition counseling helping the community with weight management, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, kidney disease and gastrointestinal intestinal disorders. She graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nutritional Science and a Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Food Science from Montclair State University. She did her dietetic internship at Cedar Crest College where she completed 1,200 hours working in multiple domains of nutrition which include community, clinical and food service management. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics where she keeps up to date with new clinical nutrition research to help advance her practice and further improve patient care every day.
