Open Visiting Hours Begin at Raritan Bay Medical Center

New welcome policy and open visiting hours are part of a Patient- and Family-Centered Care initiative

Hackensack Meridian Health Raritan Bay Medical Center-Old Bridge and Raritan Bay Medical Center-Perth Amboy launched a new welcome policy today, including open patient visiting hours and a streamlined guest check-in process.

Families can now visit with their loved ones 24 hours a day, seven days a week in the medical/surgical, telemetry, intensive care and coronary care units.  Some areas of the hospitals, such as the maternity unit and Center for Living, will maintain certain visitation hours to ensure clinical processes are conducted appropriately.

Hospital guests will need to present a government-issued photo ID at Raritan Bay-Old Bridge and Raritan Bay-Perth Amboy’s front desks to obtain a “welcome pass” to enter the hospitals.  If a visitor does not have an ID with a photo, an image can be taken at the front desk to allow for entry.

Raritan Bay Medical Center is focused on providing patient-and family-centered care (PFCC), as well as a safe and therapeutic environment for patients. As a tenet of patient- and family-centered care, family and friends are viewed as patient advocates whose support is essential to patients.  PFCC encourages family and friends to be more actively involved in clinical decision-making. Open visiting hours allow for this increased collaboration between caregivers, patients and their families.

Raritan Bay is committed to creating an environment supportive of PFCC, positive health outcomes and the safety and security of patients, families, guests, physicians, team members, and the community.
