Hackensack Meridian Health Raritan Bay Medical Center-Old Bridge and Raritan Bay-Perth Amboy team members wore red in December in recognition of World AIDS Day. Team members from Raritan Bay-Perth Amboy held an HIV rapid testing and awareness event on December 1, providing guests with free HIV testing, condoms, and prevention education, and information on available resources for STD screenings and more.
World AIDS Day was launched in 1988 to raise awareness of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, to encourage people to support those living with the condition, and to remember those who have died. HIV/AIDS has effected the lives of millions around the world; since the epidemic first emerged, around 75 million people become infected. Some 35.3 million people are now living with HIV, but experts hope that continued research will eventually lead to a vaccine and even a cure. For more information, call 732-324-5350.
