Each resident is assigned a faculty adviser who provides an introduction to the program and acts as career mentor. Residents begin their three year program with an intensive review of the core internal medicine specialties.
PGY-1 residents spend two thirds of their clinical activity time in an inpatient setting including on the medical floors and critical care units. Residents spend a third of the time in an ambulatory care setting at the outpatient continuity care clinic at the Jewish Renaissance Medical Center, women’s health center, early intervention clinic and the Roosevelt Rehabilitation Center. PGY-1 residents are on-call an average of every third day. Calls are limited to 16 hours each.
PGY-2 and PGY-3 residents partake in 24-hour calls with an average of 5-6 calls per month.
In compliance with ACGME guidelines, residents receive one day off each week and duties are limited to less than 80 hours weekly.
Raritan Bay Medical Center offers a rich social and recreational environment enabling fellow residents to build strong bonds. Among the activities that strengthen the integrity and family oriented relationship is a monthly international lunch, intern welcoming party, and participation in the annual health fair organized by the Coalition of Hispanic Physicians.

Excellent rail, bus and road systems provide easy access to Newark, New Brunswick, Princeton, New York City, Philadelphia and Baltimore. Newark Liberty International Airport is a short 20-minute drive from Perth Amboy.
