Who Can We Help?
The Center for Continence & Pelvic Rehabilitation provides assessment and treatment for a broad range of conditions, including the following:
- Urinary incontinence
- Bowel incontinence
- Pelvic pain
- Interstitial cystitis
- Levator ani syndrome
- Urinary and bowel retention
What is Incontinence?
Representing our most common diagnosis, incontinence is the loss of bladder or bowel control. It is important to understand that incontinence is a symptom, not a disease, and may be caused by various disorders, such as weak or overactive bladder muscles, pelvic or spinal cord injury, enlarged prostate, neurological disease, infection or other underlying issues.
What is Pelvic Pain?
Pelvic pain, which affects both men and women, is generally characterized by pain in the abdominal or pelvic region, though it can also radiate pain to the lower back or legs. The pain can be so severe that it interferes with daily living and quality of life.
How is My Condition Diagnosed?
Following a physical examination and medical history obtained by your physician, The Center for Continence & Pelvic Rehabilitation will conduct a complete diagnostic evaluation. This process may include various outpatient tests, such as urinalysis, bloodwork and video urodynamics.
Video urodynamics is a breakthrough procedure that utilizes imaging technology to detect disorders of the urinary tract system. A combination of pictures and video provide detailed information about the bladder so physicians can identify abnormalities.
